PSW Composition Contest Winner Announced
We have a winner! After careful review of nearly 70 outstanding entries for our 1st Annual Composition Contest, the Pennsylvania Symphonic Winds is thrilled to announce the following awards:
- Grand Prize: Fight or Flight by Ryan Fillinger (performance by PSW plus $500 prize)
- Honorable Mention: Magnificent Places by Jacob Schoenle ($100 prize)
- Honorable Mention: Joy Dance by Scott Watson ($100 prize)
Congratulations to all our winners, and thanks to all who contributed their magnificent work for consideration in this contest. Please join us at our May 19th concert to hear the debut of Fillinger’s Fight or Flight!

The Pennsylvania Symphonic Winds is a premier wind ensemble comprised of local musicians in the Philadelphia area. The membership of the PSW includes both professional and dedicated amateur musicians who share a passion to create exceptional musical performances.
The PSW plays a diverse repertoire of music, covering a wide range of styles. The PSW prides itself in possessing the advanced levels of musicality and technical proficiency most often found in professional ensembles.
